A Paradise For Party Animal

China’s third largest city, Tianjin is a boomtown where some of the major international companies have their headquarters and it is also a big university town full of both Chinese and foreign students. Added to this is the city’s 10 million plus population, a mix that ensures a definite uptick in its nightlife scene.

Until recently the city’s nightlife choices were mainly to be found in the hotels. While new venues have begun popping up all over, the city has also provided plenty of eating and drinking options to suit every taste and budget. Dance clubs are also very much a part of the Tianjin nightlife scene. Scarlet is one such club located opposite the Tianjin University, popular with Chinese and foreign students and packed every Friday and Saturday nights. Sitong, in the basement of the Olympic Hotel is reputedly the most popular music bar in the city with the best DJ and a live band. The vibe is electric there. Le Nest with its Russian go-go dancers, laser lighting and heavy techno music is another popular hangout spot.

Eating and drinking venues catering to local and international clientele are scattered around the city, tucked away in the former international concession areas and in the up market city hotels, serving a range of western and Asian cuisine. Alibaba, popular with students serves western food, cheap beer and has table football. Hanks Sports Bar and Grill, a foreign owned café, serves American food from noon till late evening and is a popular hangout spot for expat families.

Another well known place is Pepper, a Korean inspired restaurant. Spot Café in Heping District serves coffee, tea and pastries and hosts cultural events on a regular basis. Rainbow Pub set up like an English country pub and featuring a live band is a favourite with locals. Hundreds of similar places cater to the growing demand for night time entertainment. Dong Fang Zhi Zhu is said to be the best place for after hours eating serving dim sum and other Chinese food. Noisy crowds throng the place till the wee hours of the morning.

Although the live music scene in Tianjin is mainly made up of traditional Chinese and classical music performances at the Tianjin concert hall and punk, metal and rock gigs at 13 club and Riff Live House, moves are being made to expand the choice with the opening of a jazz club. The music scene is also enlivened by concerts from visiting artistes.

Very visibly located in the centre of Tianjin with easy access to business, shopping, entertainment and cultural attractions, Somerset Youyi Tianjin offers a choice of comfortable, well equipped apartments for short or long stays that are among the best in Tianjin apartment options. This Tianjin accommodation has on site amenities and facilities to make a stay in the city relaxed, convenient and comfortable for business and leisure travellers.
