Auckland Art Gallery

Toi o Tamaki, or commonly known as Auckland Art Gallery is the most important public gallery in New Zealand. It houses the most widespread collection of international and national art of New Zealand. It also is a pioneer for travelling international art exhibitions that are held frequently. Located right below the Albert Park which is in the central region of Auckland was firstly found in 1888 and was the only and first stable gallery in the country.

In 1995 a new gallery was built right across the road from the old gallery which consists of all contemporary art. The new gallery is built in the building which was once the Auckland Telephone Exchange Building which now looks a striking structure of contemporary and Edwardian Architecture. It surely is a lovely place where you could go through a unique experience of typical talent of New Zealanders. Once you step in you would be mesmerized as to how spectacular the place is. Many renowned artists from Europe, Pacific and New Zealand are featured in the gallery. And even paintings from Middle Ages to present era.
