Ipswich Art Gallery

A Gallery with Many Facets

Art has been heralded by the masses as one of the most enduring expressions of life as civilisation after civilisation and community after community has imitated, moulded and allowed artistic forms of expression to evolve. In the 21st century, art no longer encompasses canvas paintings alone but has branched out into digital art and even street art making art a diverse yet tremendously intriguing interest for enthusiasts. For art enthusiasts living in Australia, the Ipswich Art Gallery is a place close to their hearts. Located in d’Arcy Doyle Place, the Art Gallery is also visited enthusiastically by tourists staying in hotels in Ipswich.

For tourists seeking luxurious accommodation in Queensland, Oaks Aspire Apartments are a truly wonderful place to recommend. Similarly, the Ipswich Art Gallery is a beautiful place to visit. The building alone is steeped in history and heritage and hosts around one hundred thousand unique visitors daily. The gallery is also home to a Children’s Gallery, one of the first of its kind in Australia which is aimed at improving, encouraging and displaying the art produced by children. What also seeks to make this gallery unique is its exceptional exhibits.

One of the exhibits running till the 2 November this year is titled Wind Tubes and utilises a myriad of everyday items such as plastic, propellers, paper cups and ping pong balls to invent a creation that will continue to be air borne for an extended period of time. This exhibit not only encourages creative thinking and even a little bit of physics, it is also a thought provoking and interactive exhibit ideal for families. An exhibit with a different spin, ‘Gooloowan’, is a series of photographs of a historic house in Ipswich that strives to capture, record and preserve residential architecture in the area. Therefore, the Ipswich Art Gallery is replete with exhibitions of many forms and is a truly wonderful place to visit for art enthusiasts in Queensland, Australia.
