Madame Tussauds Hong Kong

With wax models and wax museums becoming more and more popular, it is intriguing to explore the history behind this phenomenon which can be traced back to a lady named Marie Tussaud of Strasbourg who was greatly influenced by Dr. Phillipe Curtius, an individual skilled in wax sculpturing. Marie Tussaud soon became Dr. Curtius’ protégée and proceeded to inherit his entire collection upon his demise thus leading to what is known in modern times as Madame Tussauds’ Wax Museum, branches of which can be found across the globe. While the most famous Museum is located in London, England, Museums are found across the continent as well as in America and Asia. In Asia, only two permanent Museums exist and the Madame Tussauds Hong Kong is one of them.

Madame Tussauds Hong Kong is located on Hong Kong Island at the Peak Tower and was opened in 2000 featuring one hundred or more wax models of various international personalities. The Museum at The Peak offers visitors the option posing with their favourite celebrities or personalities from a variety of settings such as Music, History, National Heroes and Glamour.

Some of these personalities include movie stars such as Jackie Chan, Bruce Lee, Brad Pitt, Hugh Grant, Meryl Streep and Angelina Jolie while the Champions section include fairly realistic sculptures of David Beckham, Tiger Woods and a recently added Ronaldinho. For those who wish to pose with historic figures, the Museum is home to models of Princess Diana, Mahatma Gandhi and even Adolf Hitler as well as eminent personalities including Queen Elizabeth and Barack Obama.

For those who wish to make a visit to the Museum from a hotel in Kowloon, this attraction can be accessed via taxi, tram or minibus. Visitors should keep in mind that the Museum charges an entrance fee of US$18 for adults and US$9 for children below the age of 11. When visiting the city, accommodation is available at a myriad of levels and Mongkok hotels Hong Kong that suit your budget and taste can be found with ease. However, for those who wish to travel and reside in style, none other is better than the renowned Cosmo Hotel Mongkok whose timeless elegance will sweep you off your feet and provide you with a vacation you will scarcely forget.
