Dubai has succeeded in establishing man-made islands, which has created the Archipelago of Palm Islands. Three islands are included in this project and they take the shape of a palm tree topped with a crescent when viewed from above.
Overview
Palm Jumeirah has extended around 5 kilometres in the Arabian Gulf. It is being built by the government-owned developer Nakheel, just like the other Palm islands.
Structure
Palm Jumeirah, by far, is the only completed island of the three, and it consists of 17 branches along with a central trunk that is surrounded by an 11-kilometre breakwater. This island acts as a spectacular holiday destination with some of the best 5-star resorts Dubai has to offer such as Anantara The Palm Dubai Resort.
Getting There
Since tourism has been the major motivation for building this archipelago, the engineers have made sure that it can be easily accessed from the mainland as well. One can either take the monorail or a taxi from Dubai Airport to reach this island. The line 9 sky bus takes you through to the Palm Jumeirah as well.
Top Things to Do
Skydiving with a great view of the archipelago, having fun at some of the best theme parks around, a cruise tour, and even getting on a Hop-on Hop-off Big Bus are some of the great ways you can enjoy your time on Palm Jumeirah.
