Currenlty a museum the Saeed Al Maktoum House was built in 1896 , it was the house of the ruler of the government seat. The house was built by the present ruler’s grandfather. Dating back to over hundred years the house is a great piece of architecture.

The top floor of the building is the perfect place to catch a glimpse of the great sky scrappers of Dubai.Having being converted into a museum in the later part of the 1980s’ the museum shows the way of life well over a century ago. The coins , documents ,first postal stamps of the country belonging to the period are carefully stored in the modern day museum..
The building is declared a national monument. The building also has a section dedicated to show the trade practices carried out during the time. A perfect place to stroll around to get an idea of the history of Dubai.
