Sometimes not a day goes by in Singapore when there is not a gig taking place somewhere in the city, a live band performing or a DJ entertaining the crowds that enjoy diverse varieties of music. St Jerome’s Laneway Festival is one such event that happens in the city state that attracts massive crowds from across the country. In 2013 the key line up will include Yeasayer, Bat for Lashes and Divine Fits. Starting in Singapore, the Festival will go on from January 26th to February 9th ending at Perth, Australia.
The fest has earned its reputation as the event that is most in tune with the changing trends in music. As such, this year’s line of musicians will include Alpine, The Neighbourhood, Nicolas Jaar, Cloud Nothings, Henry Wagons & The Unwelcome Company, Real Estate, Kings Of Convenience, Chet Faker, Perfume Genius, Twerps and Japandroids. If that was not enough, performances from Polica, High Highs, The Men, Ms Mr, Flume, Shlohmo, Holy Other, Snakadaktal, Julia Holter, Of Monsters and Men, Alt J, Pond and The Rubens are also scheduled. A veritable feast for your ears!
What is most interesting is that most of the bands that are featured in this year’s event have only just released their very first album and it is highly possible that this is the very first time that one might get to listen to them. There are some bands that no one or rather very few would have heard of, but it is all about discovering tunes that one loves as those who have been to this event wait to hear the bands that are featured at the fest.
