Uncover Vietnam’s Rich Cultural Heritage at the Hoi An Traditional Art Performance Theatre

Tipped to be one of the most engaging cultural experiences one can have in Hoi An, a visit to the Hoi An Traditional Art Performance Theatre is not one visitors will likely forget for years to come. Considered an integral part of Hoi An Old Town and a permanent fixture in its landscape since time immemorial. This iconic performance art centre reflects the community it is based in with all the richness and diversity the intermingling of various nationalities can afford. The area is a melting pot of Chinese, Japanese and Vietnamese populations and has been for centuries. It is this multi-cultural identity that has shaped its dance and creative forms of expressions and these art forms are now on display for the benefit of tourists and locals alike at the one and only Hoi An Traditional Art Performance Theatre.

Ideally geared for visitors hoping to uncover the history, myths and legends of the region, the theatre serves as a prime point of interest for folk art lovers as well. Conveniently situated down Nguyen Thai Hoc Street visitors can enter the theatre complex from 9pm onwards to experience colourful performances of various traditions. A daily show takes place from 9pm to 10pm and visitors who purchased tickets to explore the Old Town can enjoy the show free of charge as the ticket to the Old Town secures free entrances to ten tourist attractions within the town.

Despite its quaint and cosy setting the theatre provides ample room for vivid performances accompanied by elaborate backdrops that help set the scene for the action on stage. Performers don colourful costumes and employ a plethora of facial and hand gestures to communicate different meanings according to the traditional poses of the dance traditions. Further animated by musical accompaniments using instruments such as the Dan Ba, actors play out scenes from age old myths and legends while delving in to the historic attractions of Hoi An and the relics from centuries past which are visible throughout the city even today.
Travellers in search of an elegant Hoi An spa resort will be more than satisfied with the stylish Anantara Hoi An Resort. Ideally located in a scenic position this Hoi An hotel pulls out all the stops when it comes to vacationing in sheer luxury.
