The magnificent Summer Palace or Yiheyuan is an extensive attraction which has the distinction of being the most expansive and best preserved royal garden in the entirety of China. Comparatively more tranquil and subdued is the Rear-Hill Area which has a special charm of its own. Although there are fewer manmade attractions in this section, the expanse has its own appeal with its numerous winding paths and dense vegetation.
