Visiting the Upside Down House in Phuket: A Fascinating Attraction for Curious Minds

The Upside Down House is unlike most other attractions in Phuket, making you question everything you see once you step inside its mind-boggling interior. Designed by former hotel manager Alex Riva to challenge our everyday perceptions, the Upside Down House is worth a visit for families that love new and unusual experiences.

Where to Find It

The structure is located between Siam Niramit and the ‘Outlet Village’ on Bypass Road and is just a short drive from nearby hotels like NH Boat Lagoon Phuket Resort. You’ll notice a bright red upside-down Volkswagen Beetle displayed in front of the house, making it quite impossible to miss.

Entering the House

Once you arrive you’ll notice that the house is quite literally upside down. This means you’ll need to enter through the roof and step straight into its attic. Once you’re inside, you’ll need a few minutes to make sense of the house and get your bearings, after which you can begin exploring.

Top Highlights

You can wander through the rooms including a living room, a bedroom with a functioning upside-down television, a fully equipped kitchen and a working area. One of the best and most unique challenges at the house is figuring out how to pose for photos – it takes a bit of creativity and is even better if you’re with family.

The Garden Maze

Once you make your way out of the house, you can head back to your family resort in Phuket or venture out into the garden and try to make your way through a 1000-square-metre garden maze. You can enter from any of the 7 gates and use your navigational skills to find your way out.
