The Adelaide Convention Centre, located opposite Oaks Embassy, was first opened to the public in 1987 with the intention of boosting the South Australian economy through tourism and to raise the bar for convention facilities and services in the country. Since it was first established the Centre has continued to grow with new buildings and extensions. March 2015 saw the completion and launch of the West Building. The East Building, which is under construction and due to open in 2017, will replace the original Centre built in 1987.
The Centre is a much sought after venue for elegant weddings and other events. Banquet halls, like the Panorama Ballroom in the new West Building off Morphett Bridge, easily outshine the facilities offered by Adelaide Hotels. CBD venues offer a few additional options but none that parallel those of the Convention Centre. The West Building is unmatched with its breathtaking views of Adelaide’s famed scenery, from lush green hillsides to its pristine coastline.
Adelaide Convention Centre has won multiple awards and an internationally renowned reputation. It plays host to nearly thirty thousand international and national delegates each year. The event calendar is packed with year round showstoppers like Santa’s Workshop, an all-out Christmas bash; Centre ArtBeat, a series of art exhibitions and The South Australian Living Artists Festival, the largest celebration of visual arts in Australia. The venue proudly represents South Australia in its wide variety of menu choices from local wines to fresh produce grown within the state. Additional services including cutting edge audio visual facilities, theming, signage and branding, web streaming and event ticketing are also available to clients. The Centre is a mere seven kilometers from the international airport and tours of the facility can be arranged with prior notice.
